Argos Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom informed the Argos Town Council that a letter was sent out to residents informing them that the water tower will be empty for maintenance. There is a plan to paint the interior and exterior of the water tower.
Lindstrom stated that the water tower will empty for 45 days. He told the council that he’s spoken with the fire chief as the fire hydrants will not be functional.
Council member Shawn Harley asked if the fire department can access the reservoir if there was an emergency. Lindstrom replied that they’re looking into that, but he didn’t think that they could, but there is a pond on Lindon they could utilize and it is set up for it. Pumps are being prepared.
Lindstrom requested to have the water operators be put on call in case of emergency. The council approved a motion to allow Lindstrom to do that.
Depending on the weather, the water tower will be drained in the next week or two.
Pressure problems should not arise, but Lindstrom said it could be possible.
