Two people were arrested Wednesday, February 21 after deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department were advised of a vehicle entering the county on Michigan Road with a driver without a valid driver’s license.
A traffic stop was conducted on Michigan Road just north of 1st Road where police say 34-year-old Douglas Howard was detained for driving while suspended. Further investigation into the traffic stop uncovered the presence of Fentanyl and other controlled substances, according to the report.
Howard, along with the front seat passenger, 36-year-old Derek Sallee, were arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Marshall County Drug Task Force, Saint Joseph County Police Department, and LaPaz Police Department.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
