Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in the area of State Road 8 west of Upas Road Friday, February 16 at 3:46 p.m. ET.
One of the drivers involved in the accident, 59-year-old Phillip A. Dalton Sr., of Knox, was entrapped in the vehicle and required extrication. According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, he was safely extricated by Plymouth Fire/EMS responders and transported to a regional hospital for multiple major injuries. The other driver, 81-year-old Gerald A. Ewing, of Culver, was also injured in the accident. He was transported to a regional hospital for treatment.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. Police say evidence at the scene showed that controlled substance use may have been a factor in the collision.
