The Town of Culver and the City of Plymouth have accepted an IU Tree Grant
This grant provides a Fellow, or intern, for five months to reside within the communities and conduct research and projects concerning Culver’s and Plymouth’s tree populations. The Fellow will be Abby Garcia from Goshen. She has a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and has experience in farming, GIS, and as a tree specialist. She also was in an all-female Alaskan fire team – the first of its kind.
The grant provides 100 indigenous species trees that are 1-2 inches, which will be divided evenly in each community. The trees will be planted by Davies Tree Service. The grant also includes maintenance for the first two years. The trees are guaranteed for three years with IU providing replacements in the event of a loss.
The Town of Culver and the City of Plymouth express thanks to Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ’s Provincial Leadership Team for donating $3,200 to cover the local match.
