Plymouth Police Chief Updates Board of Public Works and Safety

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members met Monday, February 12 for their regular meeting.

The board approved the recommendation from Plymouth Police Chief John Weir of the low bid of $39,745 each from AutoPark on three Durangos for the police fleet.

Chief Weir requested that the board approve the promotion of three officers to Corporals for the road; one for each shift. His request was approved.

Chief Weir has also sent emails to eligible internal candidates on promotions for Detective and Drug Task Force.

In addition to those open positions, Chief Weir also requested the addition of a part-time position to supplement the Police Aide position to cover for sick days and vacation time. His request was approved. Human Resources Manager Jennifer Klingerman will work with Chief Weir on that job description.

Police Aide Becky Carswell will be retiring at the end of February. Chief Weir will be interviewing qualified applicants; applications were accepted until Wednesday, February 14.

Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski confirmed that he does have the funding available in his budget for his requests.
