Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Opens Bids for Fuel and Truck Bids

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members opened bids for trucks and fuel during their last meeting January 22.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt recited the bids for the public. He said Ceres Solutions provided a bid for 22,500 gallons of low sulfur diesel and 40,000 gallons of gasoline. The price for diesel was approximately $3.32 a gallon with taxes, and the price for gasoline was approximately $2.87 a gallon with taxes.

Marquardt asked the board for permission to look through the bids to ensure proper process, and work with Ceres Solution officials to lock in a price. He said with this year’s pricing, the city will see a savings from last year’s bidding process. The board approved this request with a unanimous vote.

Additionally, bids were opened for trucks.

Auto Park Chrysler in Plymouth provided a bid for a 2024 Ram 2500 Crew Cab truck at a price of $47,676 which includes a $2,000 trade-in value of a city vehicle. Oliver Ford in Plymouth provided a bid for a 2024 F-250 Crew Cab XL for $52,999 which includes a $500 trade-in value of a city vehicle. McCormick Motors of Nappanee could not guarantee the acquisition of a Chevy Silverado truck.

With that, Marquardt asked the board if he could proceed with the two bids provided and award a bid to the lowest responsible bidder. The board approved the request with a unanimous vote.
