Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Hears Updates from Engineering, Plymouth Fire Department

Plymouth City Engineer Daniel Sellers and Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm updated the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety for their respective departments this week.

Sellers updated the board on the Commerce Street Project; a pre-construction meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28. The Commerce Street Project will reconstruct Commerce Street from Pioneer north to Pretzels, Inc., Gary Drive, the area by Love’s Truck Stop, and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) right of way on U.S. 30. The project is being funded by the Redevelopment Commission.

Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm updated the board that three interviews were conducted last week. Though all three applicants were qualified and performed well in all areas of the process. One candidate was most qualified per certifications, he is a paramedic firefighter and will be a lateral transfer from Goshen Fire Department. The board approved a conditional offer of employment to John Kaufmann. Chief Holm informed the board that he is already a member of the Police Fire Pension; he has a son who attended Plymouth Schools and is prepared to not only work in Plymouth but to relocate his place of residence to the area.
