The Bremen Police Department is ready to start the inspection and registration process for golf carts.
Bremen Director of Operations Keith Fraine told the Bremen Town Council at their last meeting that the decals are in so the officers can place them on the golf carts following the inspection and registration process.
Golf carts should be registered by May 1.
The Bremen Town Council previously adopted an ordinance amendment concerning golf carts. The biggest change in the ordinance is the registration requirement and a registration fee. All golf carts will be required to be registered in the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office with an annual $10 registration fee. A police officer will need to inspect the golf cart before the decal can be issued to legally operate the golf cart on town streets.
The cost of registration will cover the cost of the decals and the time to process registration.
Golf carts must be insured before operation in the town limits of Bremen.
Golf carts may not be operated on the walking trails, grass or sod in the Bremen Parks System unless there is a legitimate medical purpose.
