The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency has placed Marshall County under a “Travel Advisory” effective immediately.
A Travel Advisory is the lowest level of local travel restrictions. It means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of hazardous situations, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Travel advisories are signified with yellow on statewide travel status maps.
A winter storm is setting up over Marshall County today and through Saturday. Several inches of snow are expected, with the general forecast consensus being between 4-6”. Wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour will cause whiteout conditions and drifting on roads.
Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate in the late afternoon/evening hours on Friday, January 12. Saturday morning, January 13, appears to be the most worrisome period for travel.
Stay tuned to local media and the Marshall County EMA for future updates – including an eventual return to normal travel status.
