The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members were notified of quotes received for new Police Department vehicles for 2024 during their meeting this week.
Police Chief David Bacon said quote requests were sent to six different dealerships and they were split between Ford and Dodge.
Oliver Ford presented a quote for a 2024 All Wheel Drive (AWD) Ford Explorer Interceptor for $42,762. For three new vehicles, the net cost would be $128,286.
Auto Park Dodge in Plymouth presented a quote for three, 2024 AWD Dodge Durangos at a cost of $39,745 each.
Warsaw Chrysler Dodge Jeep provided a quote for a 2023 Dodge Charger AWD pursuit V6 sedan at a cost of $37,924 and a 2024 Dodge Durango V6 AWD for $40,813. The company also quoted a Dodge Durango AWD V8 for $43,824.
Chief Bacon said he spoke with the representative with Oliver Ford who said at the time the quote was delivered, he could get the Ford models, but now they cannot. Pricing for 2025 models will come out February 1 but the delivery time would be about the same.
Chief Bacon asked the board to take the quotes under advisement and John Weir will come forward with a recommendation during the board’s next meeting. That request was approved with a unanimous vote. Weir was named the new police chief upon Bacon’s retirement at the end of January.
