The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members opened bids for the Commerce Street project Monday night.

Street Department Superintendent Jim Marquardt explained that the project reconstructs the area of Commerce Street from Pioneer north to the Pretzels, Inc. property, along with the Gary Drive area, the Love’s Truck stop area, and to the INDOT right-of-way on U.S. 30.

Three bids were opened by City Attorney Jeff Houin. E&B Paving in Rochester submitted a bid of $1,715,815.87. Milestone Contractors North in South Bend submitted a bid of $1,305,356.80, and Rieth-Riley Construction in South Bend submitted a bid of $1,120,386.61.

The bids will be presented to the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission during their meeting next week for review and eventual approval. TIF funds will be funding this project so the approval of the bid will be made by Redevelopment Commission. Houin noted that the bids had to be opened during the public meeting Monday night.
