Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel recently sent out the December 2023 jail report.
The jail population as of January 19, 2024 was 152 and the total number of beds at the jail is 233. There were 89 pre-trial inmates, 48 sentenced inmates, 47 inmates serving felony charges, seven were awaiting arraignment and two were held for another agency. There are 1,370 active warrants in Marshall County.
The top 10 offenses upon intake in December 2023 were operating while intoxicated, failure to appear, operator never licensed, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, resisting law enforcement, battery, and intimidation.
There were 103 accidents reported with 94 being property damage accidents, 8 personal injury accidents, and 1 fatality. There were 287 warnings/citations given, and 85 case reports filed.
The 911/Central Dispatch Center received a total of 3,621 calls of which 1,191 were 911 calls. There were 1,180 service calls in December.
