At the beginning of the first 2024 meeting of the Argos Town Council, nominations for President and Vice President of the council were held.
For President, Council Member Ed Barcus nominated Council Member Erica Partin with Council Member Robert Byers seconding the nomination. With no other nominations, the council unanimously voted Erica Partin as President of the Argos Town Council. Partin is the first female to serve as Argos Town Council President.
Byers nominated Barcus for Vice President with Partin seconding the nomination. With no other nominations, the council voted Barcus as Vice President. The vote was Partin, Barcus, and Byers in favor, and Council Members Shawn Harley and Charles Randy Snead abstaining.
The council voted unanimously to retain Derek Jones as the Town Attorney.
Later in the meeting, the council voted to move the meeting dates from the first and third Wednesdays of the month to the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The time would still be at 7 p.m. ET This new change would be effective starting in February. There will be a workshop an hour before the second meeting, when needed.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney was appointed as Utility Clerk, Mark VanDerWeele was appointed as Development Director, and Ed Barcus was appointed to the Fire Territory Board. Liaison appointments are as follows: Shawn Harley to the Police, Robert Byers to the Park Board, Erica Partin to Utilities, Charles Randy Snead to Redevelopment Commission, Ed Barcus to Plan and Development.
