Two Marshall County bridges that were under construction this season are now open.
Marshall County Highway Department Superintendent Jason Peters updated the commissioners Monday morning that Bridge 87 on 11th Road and Bridge 120 on Upas Road are now open. Peters said officials walked through the areas on Friday to discuss minor finishing details.
In other bridge news, a contract agreement was approved with INDOT for the construction of Bridge #11 on Union Road. INDOT will pay the full construction cost of $1,022,835.43.
Beyond that, Peters said crews are working on patching roads for winter, cutting brush and trees, grading, and adding gravel for winter. Stone is also being hauled for supplies in the 2024 highway season.
Additionally, Jason Peters was recently elected as the Northwest Director of the Indiana Association of County Highway Engineers and Supervisors.
