The Christmas light display at River Park Square in downtown Plymouth was severely vandalized Wednesday, December 13 just after 3 a.m. ET.
According to the Plymouth Park Department, those allegedly responsible went from pole to pole cutting the Christmas light strands at the base of the light poles and the light strands for the official Christmas tree for the City of Plymouth. They also removed and destroyed many of the lighted Christmas trees that had been a part of the theme for this year’s display that were donated by numerous community members.
Thanks to the Park Department’s relatively new security camera system installed at River Park Square, the criminals were recorded committing the crime and officials with the Park Department, Mayor’s Office, and the Plymouth Police Department will be investigating the incident.
In a press release, Plymouth Park Department officials thanked NexGen Digital Solutions for the installation of the security cameras and subsequent training on their operation.
