One of the new amenities in the Jackson Street gathering place project in the Town of Bremen includes a fire pit. The Bremen Town Council members spent a bit of time talking about how that fire pit will be regulated during their recent meeting.
The Town of Bremen was awarded Stellar grant funds for several projects including the Jackson Street project which involves an outdoor pavilion, stage area, a lot of greenspace, new trees, benches, and lighting to create a downtown community gathering area.
Councilman Michael Leman commented that the fire pit should be automated and have it connected to natural gas.
Director of Operations Keith Fraine suggested talking to Mike Reese with The Troyer Group to get opinions on the fire pit operation, but any decision that will be made by the council members will come with an additional cost.
Town Attorney Anthony Wagner does not want any other work on employees with its operation, but it will need to have maintenance and care on a regular basis.
There will also be some rules and expectations for the general area, particularly alcohol use, with direction toward the laws in place of the Town of Bremen.
Wagner said other community representatives with similar amenities will be contacted to determine a policy.
