Warsaw Woman Suspected of Neglect of a Dependent

April Campbell

A Warsaw woman was arrested Monday, November 13 after a concerned citizen reported to a Marshall County deputy that a child had been pulled out of a vehicle by the child’s mother and the mother then left the child at the LaPaz Speedway gas station.

Marshall County Deputies responded just before 3 p.m. ET and found that a young female, approximately 10 years old, was in the care of employees of the Speedway and had been reportedly abandoned by her mother.

While deputies were investigating the matter, the mother, identified as April D. Campbell, 39 of Warsaw, returned to the scene. During continued investigations with Campbell, police reportedly determined that she was intoxicated while operating her vehicle.  The vehicle had her 6-year-old son in it.

Campbell was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated at or above 0.15 percent, and neglect of a dependent.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
