The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved several requests during their regular meeting Monday, November 13.
The board approved a request made by Project Manager Erik Parcell of R. Yoder Construction for a closure on Center Street between Washington Street and West Garro Street November 28 and 29. The closure will be the final full road closure of that section for the library construction project but will accommodate use by the United States Post Office. The road will be open completely November 30 to northbound and southbound traffic.
The board approved a request made by Jeanine Xavier on behalf of St. Michael’s Catholic Church to conduct a Holy Processional Walk December 3 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET.
The board approved a request made by Sandy Saenz, owner of Simplee Stated Gifts and representative of Plymouth Downtown Merchant Group, to close West Garro Street between Michigan Street and the alley of the United States Post Office for the second annual candlelight Christmas shopping event which will be held November 30, December 7, December 14, and December 21. The closure will accommodate vendors or carolers depending on the date, and a s’mores and hot chocolate station. The street will be closed from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET November 30 to accommodate vendor set up and from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET for the other dates.
According to Saenz, the Plymouth Fire Department will assist with the s’mores station, the House of Prayer Church will assist with serving hot chocolate, and Expressions Dance Studio will be providing dancers who will perform dance routines all four Thursdays.
The board also approved a request made by the Plymouth Public Library for two parking spaces to be designated as curbside pick-up. The board approved two spaces on Garro Street. Those spaces will be marked.
