Traveling by vehicle over the holiday season will not be as hard on the wallet as it has been in recent weeks.
Gasbuddy.com Head of Petroleum Analysis Patrick De Haan says gas prices have been falling.
“In fact, the average price in Indiana last week is down about nine cents,” said De Haan. “We’re seeing a lot of stations, in fact, 35 states now, have at least one gas station below $3.00 and that’s what we find in Indiana as well. It looks like several dozen stations have fallen below the $3.00 a gallon mark. Expect to see prices, if you’re lucky, a little bit below $3.00 for the next several weeks into the rest of the year.”
De Haan said the price of gas will fluctuate for the next couple of months.
De Haan continued, “A lot of the reason for the falling prices in the fall is that gasoline demand is always weakening going into the cooler months. Americans don’t drive as much, coupled with the fact that we’ve made the transition back to cheaper winter gasoline. So, these low gas prices should stick with us through a good portion of the fall and potentially into the winter – so long as what’s happening in the Middle East doesn’t significantly change.”
