The Culver Community School Corporation formally requested to the Culver Town Council the vacation of an alley on corporation property.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim explained that she received information from School Superintendent Karen Shuman that there is a piece of land just north of the Elementary School building that appears as an alleyway on the Beacon GIS system and it is still deeded to the town. Shuman requested the vacation of that alley so it can become school property. The school owns both sides of the piece of land that still appears as an alley so it would naturally go to the school.
An ordinance will need to be drafted and a public hearing scheduled to formally complete the vacation process.
The council members unanimously approved a motion to move forward with the necessary steps to complete the process to legally deed that piece of land to the school.
