The Bremen Town Council members discussed the golf cart ordinance at their most recent meeting.
Town Attorney Anthony Wagner brought up how at the last meeting a few tweaks were discussed. One of the things that was discussed was the registration cost. Wagner believed that the cost for registration should be $30 a year. He let the council know that this is lower than what most other communities charge.
Wagner further shared that he added that registrations were not transferable and that the police department will do inspections of lights and emblems.
Council Vice President Mike Leman shared concern over the registration cost. He let the council know that he believed that a $30 yearly cost was too much.
Wagner then brought up that work would need done at each registration, Leman said that the people doing the work would be on the clock and would be getting paid so the registration cost should not be so high.
Leman then proposed setting $10 as the yearly registration cost that he thought was acceptable. The other council members agreed.
Information was shared about another community that charges $75 a year for registration.
Wagner said that he had made up $30 and put it in the ordinance at the beginning and was never given a dollar amount. He said that he could change the price to $10 very easily.
The ordinance will be discussed again in a future meeting.
