Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Approves Requests

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety met Monday night for their regular meeting.

Plymouth Fire Department Chief Steve Holm requested the board’s approval to extend a conditional offer for employment to John Lampkins, a strong applicant who is currently a Paramedic / Firefighter. According to Chief Holm Lampkins has been a firefighter for 12 years and paramedic for 8. He has been working full time as both for another department for six years. He was interviewed by peers within the department. He also passed the physical agility test and written test successfully and with ease.

Lampkins is an instructor for both EMS and Fire. He holds multiple certifications. As a volunteer in the Lakeville – Lapaz area he is already well known by the team. “He is just all around a good guy.” said Chief Holm.

Member Duane Culp made a motion to approve the request, member Shiloh Carothers Milner seconded. The motion was approved unanimously with no further discussion.

The need to open the application process arose from a recent change in Chief Holm’s schedule to work Monday through Friday as opposed to fill a shift. Lampkins will fill that need.

In other news the board also approved a request made by Kristi Nate to close the parking lot on the north side of the old fire house to ensure the safety of the children who attend the pre-school while they participate in Trunk or Treat on Monday, October 30th. The board approved her request; it will be closed from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon) ET.
