Delrico Rousseau told police he was traveling south on U.S. 31 at State Road 10 in his 2023 International semi when a man dressed in dark clothing walked across the southbound lane and into the path of the semi. Rousseau said he was unable to see the pedestrian in time and was unable to avoid hitting him, according to the report.
The pedestrian, identified as 64-year-old Ricky Lewis of the Argos area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor for the driver. Toxicology tests are pending.
