Esmeralda “Esmie” Rodgers will be returning to the staff roster at the Culver-Union Township Public Library.
Rodgers was terminated in August. Since that time, due to public outcry on the matter, five of the seven library board members submitted their resignations and several new members have been appointed to serve on the board. A new interim director was also appointed.
In a press release from the Culver-Union Township Public Library, it was noted that Interim Director Cathy Thomas extended an offer to Rodgers to rejoin the staff to which Rodgers accepted. She will return to the library effective Wednesday, October 11.
Library Board President Karen Boland stated that Rodgers will bring the Youth Services programming back to the “best-in-class standard” at the library. Rodgers will manage Youth Services with responsibility for managing the daily operations and staff which includes programming and outreach to youth, reader’s advisory, and maintaining a friendly and relevant environment in the department.
