Bremen Town Council Approves American Rescue Plan Act

The Bremen Town Council members approved a resolution at their last meeting that adopts a plan for disbursement of funds for the town’s American Rescue Plan Act.

The most recent decision concerning American Rescue Plan Act Funds was the dedication of $600,000 toward the proposed Aquatics Facility project.

The town is applying for an already-earmarked federal grant through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs in the amount of $1.485 million with the town’s contribution of a little over $1.6 million which consists of TIF Funds, Park Department funds and American Rescue Plan Act funds.

This project is a Stellar project through the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Initiative. The project includes a straight-line lap pool that will have a zero-depth entry to a now four foot depth.  Where the big pool is currently will be a splash pad with buckets and slides for the kids.  The concrete pad will be redone with shade elements and a green turf area for other activities or sports.

Bids are due next week with the project starting after the 2023 pool season is complete.  Construction will take place in the fall and spring with the hopes of opening the new facility by the start of the pool season in 2024.

The plan also provides money for elevator modernization which is complete, and the purchase of portable fire radios, a police vehicle, police radios, police vehicle equipment, the repair of apartment building entry doors, repair of apartment building fire alarm, the purchase of an office phone system, and Plymouth Street/Center Street parking improvements.

Those projects will take up the town’s $1,013,929.74 in funds received from the federal government.
