Bourbon Town Council Updated on Police Report, Hiring Challenges

During the regular meeting held in October, Bourbon Police Department (BPD) Chief Bill Martin updated the Bourbon Town Council with his monthly report for September 2023; the council also approved the conditional hire of two new officers Brock Vermillion and Callie Prater.

The BPD Activity Report for September 2023 included four accidents reported, 22 uniform traffic tickets, zero ordinance tickets, 56 school patrols, 18 written warnings, 72 verbal warnings, six vehicle identification checks, 17 traffic details including radar checks, three motorist assists, nine attempts to locate and 17 foot patrols.

The BPD Criminal Activity Report for September 2023 included three felony arrests, 11 misdemeanor arrests, 16 case reports assigned, and two alarms. There were 739 daily log entries.

The BPD Administrative and General Report included 63 office details, zero firearms applications, one record check / processing, 13 general complaints, 13 requests for service, 155 security checks, 39 public contacts, 18 assists to other agencies, two animal complaints, zero notices served, two doors or windows found open, two family disturbance complaints, nine suspicious persons or vehicles, and 17 calls to 9-1-1.

Miles traveled on patrol and other duties for Chief Martin were 982 miles and four arrests.

Assistant Chief Carl Amsden recorded 981 miles and zero arrests.

Officer Timothy Hubbard recorded 1,621 miles and 29 arrests.

Reserve and part time officers recorded a total of 489 miles and three arrests.

The grand total for the BPD for the month of September was 4,073 miles and 36 arrests.
