Two people were arrested Thursday, September 14 after a traffic stop conducted by a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department K9 deputy in the area of Michigan Road and Veterans Parkway at about 11 p.m. ET.
During the traffic stop, K9 Diesel conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics. Police say while this was taking place, the driver and passenger of the vehicle were attempting to discard suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia underneath the deputy’s vehicle. Despite this, police allegedly found additional suspected methamphetamine and legend drugs inside the vehicle.
The driver, 41-year-old Mariah C. Keilman of Plymouth and passenger, 54-year-old Karen Krause of Plymouth, were taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail. They were booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice, possession of a legend drug, and possession of paraphernalia.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
