The Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board met last week and discussed topics concerning the parks.
The board discussed how the camera security for the Memorial Forest Park was on hold.
An update was provided on a well that was planned. It was shared that a survey would need to be done to make sure the area planned for the well was good to use.
The final discussion was about the smoke-free park policy.
The smoke-free park policy read, “The Marshall County Parks and Recreation Department (Board) oversees beautiful parks, recreation facilities and programs for the use and benefit of residents of the Marshall County Community and Visitors to Marshall County. To further enhance the experience of all park users and to protect everyone from the harmful effects of exposure to secondhand smoke, the Board now declares all its parks to be smoke-free. Use of any tobacco products, e-cigarettes, vapes or other similar smokeable substances on park premises is strictly prohibited.”
Discussion was had on how the parks would make sure that the policy was followed.
They shared that signs would be put up and it would be a vote of confidence that park goers would follow the policy. If people are seen smoking, they will be asked to stop.
