The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department released more information in Wednesday morning’s fatal accident in the 5000 block of Michigan Road north of Plymouth.
The Marshall County Dispatch Center received a 911 call about the single vehicle accident at 5:12 a.m. ET. Police say evidence found at the scene showed that the vehicle was traveling north on Michigan Road prior to the collision. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drove across the southbound lanes and struck a brick mailbox on the west right-of-away along the road.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers, fire and EMS personnel found a single occupant in the vehicle, 44-year-old Shane Bollinger of Plymouth. He was found to be unresponsive and not breathing after the collision, according to the report. Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene, but Bollinger was pronounced dead while still at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled.
The investigation into the accident continues, but police say narcotics are suspected to be a factor in the collision.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Tri-County Ambulance, and Reichert and Knepp Towing.
