Governor Holcomb to Visit Plymouth to Kick-off Statewide Initiative to Build Firefighter Training Facilities

Governor Eric Holcomb will be visiting Plymouth Friday, August 25 at 2 p.m. ET to discuss the importance of quality training for Indiana’s first responders.

Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm recently told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members that the state legislature passed a bill to help fund an initiative throughout the state for fire training, and the State Fire Training Academy and Governor Holcomb chose the Plymouth Fire Training Facility to make the formal announcement.

The event is set for the Plymouth Fire Training Center at 1400 Pioneer Drive in Plymouth.

North Central Career and Technical Education (CTE) through Plymouth High School is taking fire and rescue students to the training event on a field trip.

The CTE Fire and Rescue Program is a state-run program that offers three certifications to students. The program is open to juniors and seniors with instructors Daren Miller and Justyn Wade.

Students have classes that take place at the Plymouth Fire Station. Students will graduate from Plymouth High School with their certifications, and also 15 college credits.

The Plymouth Community School Corporation partners with the City of Plymouth, Marshall County Lifelong Learning Network, and Marshall County Career Innovation Center.
