Culver Community School Superintendent Karen Shuman said the students who took the IREAD-3 test last year did a great job.
She said the state recently released the results where Culver students were at a 96 percent passing rate which is one of the highest in the state.
Elementary School Principal Erica James noted that second and third grade students take the test. Any student who passed in second grade does not need to take it in third grade. She noted that the state average passing rate is 82 percent.
According to the Indiana Department of Education, statewide results show that more than 65,000 Indiana’s third grade students, or nearly 82 percent, demonstrated proficient reading skills on the assessment. This is a minimal improvement of 0.3 percentage points over results for the 2021-2022 school year.
Other area school passing percentage results include South Central at 96 percent, Argos Community Schools at 89 percent, Bremen Public Schools at 76 percent, Plymouth Community Schools at 76 percent, Triton Community Schools at 91 percent, John Glenn Community Schools at 94 percent, Union-North United at 88 percent, Eastern Pulaski Schools at 85 percent, West Central Schools at 84 percent, Oregon-Davis Schools at 89 percent, North Judson-San Pierre Schools at 77 percent, and Knox Community Schools at 82 percent.
