A Portage man was arrested Wednesday, July 19 following a brief pursuit with deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Shortly after 9 p.m. ET, an officer observed a motorcycle traveling east on U.S. 30 from the area of Oak Drive and the driver was reportedly operating the motorcycle recklessly, traveling over 100 mph.
Police say the officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, but it continued east on U.S. 30 before turning south on U.S. 31.
The driver gave up and pulled into a grassy area near the area of 14th Road where he was taken into custody, according to the report.
The driver, 19-year-old Edward Henrikson, was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked on preliminary charges of reckless driving and resisting law enforcement.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
