ARGOS — On Wednesday night, the Argos Town Council held its last meeting in July and on the agenda was an amendment to the Lot Coverage Zoning section of the town’s zoning ordinance.
Ordinance 2023-09, Lot Coverage Zoning Amendment addresses the maximum lot coverage percentage requirements for parcels of real property in the AG, R1, R2, R3, B1 and B2 zoning districts.
The ordinance was recommended for approval by the Argos Plan Commission during its Tuesday meeting.
“We’re just changing our lot average. We have two lot averages, 30 percent and 35 percent depending on the zoning. That’s just too small to be able to be able to build on smaller lots and irregular shapes and that sort of thing. Every place else in the county has 50 percent lot average. Mostly it’s going to be effecting our R1, R2, and R3. The industrial not as much, but it still gives us that flexibility,” said Town Plan Director Chuck DeWitt.
Council Member Gary Schue was at the Plan Commission on Tuesday.
“I think it’s a good move,” Schue said.
The council approved the ordinance unanimously on all three readings.
