Director of the Lifelong Learning Network LLN Allie Shook recently updated the Marshall County Commissioners on the progress of the building and the program.

County officials appropriated $1.5 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to build a Marshall County Career Innovation Center (MCCIC) on the Plymouth High School Campus.

The vision is to provide an educational anchor that builds bright futures for all.

The mission of the Center is to serve as a premier center and technical education facility that provides youth and adults with lifelong learning opportunities for satisfaction and success in their careers and beyond. LLN will partner with educators, industry leaders, and the community to empower individuals to thrive in Marshall County.

The objectives are to provide opportunities for all to pursue their purpose and passion, foster continuous learning and growth through shared experiences, and develop positive relationships for the advancement of thriving hometowns.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) education aspires to create high-wage and in-demand education pathways. Current courses in Plymouth include Aviation Management, Building & Construction Trades, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts & Hospitality, Early Childhood Education, Education Professions, Health Careers, Precision Machining and Welding Technology. New courses for the 2023-24 school year include Fire & Rescue, Veterinary Science, and Medical Assistant.

Plymouth Adult Education (PAE) hired new Director Jason Rivich in March. PAE is now an official GED Test Center open to the public.

Workforce Development has included a partnership with Marshall County Economic Development Center (MCEDC) to work with industry and businesses to complete Business Attraction and Retention interviewed to help provide clarity on what needs employers have.

The immediate target outcomes for LLN are to increase youth Career Technical Education enrollment, expand programming, increase the number of adults who obtain their High School Education, and increase the number of certifications or completion of employability skills training.

The medium term outcomes for LLN are to increase Marshall County job retention, spur upward economic mobility, and grow labor participation rates of target populations.

Long term outcomes for LLN are to establish Marshall County businesses as the employers of choice in the region, help Marshall County residents reach their personal maximum educational attainment goals, and create Marshall County population growth.
