Three Fort Wayne residents were arrested Wednesday, May 31 following a suspicious vehicle complaint at the Speedway gas station in LaPaz. Police say the caller suggested that the occupants may have been using narcotics.
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene at about 7:40 p.m. ET and spoke with the suspects who were with an RV and passenger car. During an investigation, K9 Bear was deployed to conduct a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicles. The K9 reportedly indicated to the presence of the odor of narcotics.
A subsequent search allegedly yielded approximately 24 grams of suspected methamphetamine packaged for sale, a small amount of suspected heroin, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.
As a result, 30-year-old Scott Maricle, 37-year-old Stacy Reese, and 30-year-old Cody Wearley were arrested and charged individually with several counts including dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, legend drug deception, possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
