A South Bend woman was arrested Sunday, June 11 after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a possible impaired driver.
A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department K9 officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 31 and 5A Road. Police say the driver, 23-year-old Kasandra Silvia Martinez Gonzalez was suspected to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Suspected marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms were located in the vehicle, according to the report. Gonzalez was transported to the hospital for a chemical test and later transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
