A Plymouth man was arrested Tuesday, May 30 after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a call that a man was cut by a woman and he was bleeding profusely.
When officers arrived at the scene in the 10,000 block of Lincoln Highway in Plymouth, they found 34-year-old Drew DeMask laying on top of items in a garage with blood on one of his arms from a laceration. An officer rendered first aid and assisted him from the garage until Plymouth EMS arrived at the scene.
During an investigation, police say it was determined that DeMask had battered his significant other who had left the scene for safety. DeMask then allegedly became aggressive and began punching himself in the head. At that point, he was detained and taken to the Plymouth hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to the report.
Police say it was found that he reportedly committed self harm after the incident with the woman.
After an examination at the hospital, DeMask was taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked on a preliminary charge of domestic battery in the presence of a child.
The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office will determine formal charges.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Plymouth Police Department and Plymouth EMS.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
