Plymouth City Council Approves Mileage and Meals Ordinance

The Plymouth Common Council approved Ordinance No. 2023-2214 An Ordinance to Authorize Allowances to City Employees and Officials for Mileage and Meals on second and third read during the most recent meeting.

That ordinance designates that city employees will be paid mileage at the standard rate established by the State of Indiana Department of Administration for mileage incurred on personal vehicles traveling outside of the city limits on official city business.

That ordinance also designates that city employees on official city business outside the city limits for more than one day requiring overnight accommodations will be allowed a per meal subsistence rate for meals including tips up to a maximum of $13.00 for breakfast, $15 for lunch, and $26 for supper. Reimbursable tips shall not exceed 15% of the cost of the meal. The cost of alcoholic beverages is not reimbursable.

Payment for any allowance will only be made after the employee submits to the Clerk-Treasurer a properly completed expense voucher along with the original itemized and dated receipts for expenses incurred. The voucher must include the dates, address of destination, and the reason for the trip. Mileage must also be broken down between home to destinations and return. No mileage beyond official city business will be approved.

That ordinance went in to full force and effect on May 22, 2023.
