Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb has proclaimed this week as EMS Week!
The Indiana EMS staff, executive leadership of Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) as well as the Indiana EMS Commission want to extend a warm recognition of all EMS-certified professionals during National EMS Week which runs until Saturday, May 27.
For the first time in legislative history, EMS has been allocated specific funding, which will be critical to completing a comprehensive workforce study, supporting scholarships and training for new recruits, an interfacility transfer study and a continued focus on mobile integrated healthcare.
But while this week is a celebration of all things EMS, the core foundation of Indiana EMS is the 24,500 certified or licensed EMS professionals here in Indiana providing pre-hospital care.
IDHS invites you to learn more about the EMS community in Indiana, whether it is the growing area of mobile integrated health, EMS incident data or stories of the EMS personnel in the field. IDHS will feature EMS stories throughout the week on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and on the IDHS website.
