PLYMOUTH — During the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, Plymouth Police Department (PPD) Chief David Bacon informed the board that new PPD Officer Jakub Mark was sworn in Monday morning. There are still three openings to join the PPD team with several applications having been submitted; several pending background investigations.

The board approved the request to renew the Water Street Parking Space Lease for Santiago Taqueria, LLC for another year at the rate of $40 per month for a total of $480 for the year.

The board reviewed the request by Trinity United Methodist Church for a crosswalk which was tabled from last meeting. Street Department Superintendent James Marquardt updated the board that he did review options with City of Plymouth Engineering Assistant / GIS Coordinator Chris Marshall in order to ensure Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compliance. It was recommended that an engineering study be conducted in order to comply with all regulations and noted that modifications may need to be made to both public and private property. Though the request presents several distinct challenges, member Jeff Houin did not want to give up yet. The board agreed to table the issue once again to give the Complete Streets Committee an opportunity to review the potential project and possibilities.

The board also approved moving the acceptance of bids for the 2023 Street Paving Projects forward to the next meeting which will be held on Monday, May 22 at 6 p.m. ET.
