State Road 23 between U.S. 30 and Lawrence Street south of Walkerton will undergo road construction beginning on or after Monday, May 15.
Indiana Department of Transportation officials say Milestone Contractors North, Inc. will resurface the stretch of road. The roadway will be reduced to one lane and flaggers will direct traffic in the area where work is occurring. Resurfacing work will be ongoing through late September.
Additionally, State Road 23 will also be closed between County Road 650 N. and County Road 600 N. for approximately two weeks beginning on or after Friday, June 9 for placement of a pipe at Rice Ditch. Motorists should seek an alternate route during this closure. The official detour will follow U.S. 6, U.S. 35 and U.S. 30.
INDOT officials encourage drivers to allow extra time when driving in this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
