Culver Community School Board Receives Construction Update

Culver Community School Superintendent Karen Shuman gave the school board members an update on construction during their recent meeting.

She explained that work on the lower deck of bleachers in the Middle/High School gym was to be completed the week of May 15. The upper deck bleachers should be installed in June.  She said the Elementary School gym should be complete soon.

Meanwhile, domestic water pipe replacement is underway, along with the demolition of the girls and boys locker rooms, and the Family and Consumer Science Room. Risers have been removed in the band and choir room.

Electrical work is being done and work in the Elementary School Library will start after school is out for summer.

The overall construction work will be covered by bond funds already approved by the board. A general construction bid was previously approved with R. Yoder Construction.

The projects at the Culver Elementary School include a library renovation, handicap lift for the stage, repaving parking lots, electrical updates, redoing water lines, new boilers, tuckpointing in the masonry, and replacing the gym floor.

Tuckpointing will done at the Middle/High School, along with a FACS (Family and Consumer Science) room renovation, locker room renovation, restroom renovation, band and choir room renovations, gym floor replacement, and the installation of a ramp in the high school auditorium instead of a handicap lift.  Electrical panels will be updated, and pick-up and drop-off in the back of the school building.
