The Bremen Town Council members were updated on the Bremen Police Department when they met this week.
Bremen Police Chief Brad Kile said one officer is leaving which will leave the Bremen Police Department short two officers, but three more could be going somewhere else which would leave them five officers short. One officer will be headed to the Indiana Police Academy.
Additionally, a dispatcher that has been at the Bremen Police Department for 12 years is looking to leave the department for a job in the private sector which will leave another availability there. Chief Kile said that would leave five dispatchers who have left in the past five years.
Conversely, 10 officer applications have been submitted for two open positions. Those applications will be reviewed with interviews to be held soon.
The council did approve the employment of a first-class patrolman with five vacation days after a probation period.
