Bremen Man Loses Life in Friday Night Accident

A Bremen man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident late Friday, May 26.

The Bremen Police Department received a report of a car hitting a tree at the intersection of E. South Street and Foltz Street in Bremen just before 11 p.m. ET.  According to Marshall County Coroner John Grolich, emergency responders found two occupants in the vehicle.  By the time Bremen Fire Department officials were able to gain access to the driver, he died of his injuries, according to the report.  Grolich said the passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Community Hospital of Bremen where he was airlifted to an area trauma center. 

The driver was identified as 38-year-old Miles A. Blackburn.  The passenger was identified as Ryan M. Zellmer of Bremen. 

Grolich said seatbelts were not in use at the time of the crash and speed and alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Bremen Police Department and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.
