Autism Decals Available at Bourbon Police Department

Bourbon Police Department announces a new free program where citizens can elect to put decals on their homes and vehicles alerting first responders that someone within the home or vehicle has been diagnosed with Autism.

Chief Bill Martin stated in a press release that Bourbon Police Department officers receive annual training to the characteristics, behaviors and needs of those diagnosed with Autism.

When an officer responds to an incident and sees the decal, they know they may be interacting with someone with difficulties communicating or interacting with others.  This program will aid Officers to better communicate, according to Chief Martin.

The decals are available at the Bourbon Police Department or the Bourbon Clerk-Treasurer’s Office.
