The Argos Town Council held a short meeting last week, during the citizen’s input section of the meeting, there was a question about the downtown parking lot and whether or not the lines will be repainted. The citizen that spoke asked if it was on the agenda for summer.
“We have a machine to paint it. It’s on the list,” stated Economic Director Mark VanDerWeele. He told the citizen that he would reiterate to the street department that it needs to be done.
Town Attorney Derek Jones updated the council about the rental inspection situation. “I know that the rental inspection situation needs to be investigated. I’m just going to mark time out and have some kind of information to you guys by the next meeting.”
He told the council that he has been working with Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom about an utility easement.
“We have this system development charge modification to our water and sewer ordinances that he and I kind of need to sit down and look at the existing codes and go over that,” Jones said.
VanDerWeele presented a request from ParkSide Church to close a section of South Street from Michigan Street to Maple Street for the church’s annual carnival. The carnival will be on Aug. 5.
“They’ve never caused any issues so far, so this looks good,” said Council Member Erica Partin.
The council approved the request.
Town Plan Director Chuck DeWitt told the council that the Building Trades house is having extra supervision. “That’s kind of going to be my focus. I’m going to try to make it four times a week that I’ll be here to look at it. The plan is that I’m keeping track of my time and that they will pay it out of Community Redevelopment.”
“We just needed some extra code help,” VanDerWeele added. “So, Chuck’s helping us with that.”
