A Plymouth man was arrested Tuesday, April 4 after police received notice of two alleged burglaries in the Plymouth area.
Officers reportedly found evidence that a person had forced entry into a home in the 13,000 block of 6A Road and that the home was ransacked. Items were also missing from the residence, according to the report.
Police received another call about 4.5 hours later where a male subject had fled a residence in the 6,000 block of Michigan Road. Police say an off duty officer located and detained the suspect on 6A Road west of Michigan Road. The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Christopher L. Scott of Plymouth. A search of Scott found several items reportedly stolen from the Michigan Road residence. He was then placed into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.
A short time later, police arrived at the Michigan Road residence and found evidence of forced entry and extensive damage to the interior of the home, according to the report.
After gathering information from both incidents, a search warrant was granted at a room at the Economy Inn in Plymouth which yielded items of alleged stolen property from both burglaries in the room, along with suspected controlled substances.
Christopher L. Scott faces two preliminary counts of burglary as a Level 4 Felony, two preliminary counts of theft as a Level 6 Felony, two preliminary counts of criminal mischief as a Class A misdemeanor, and a preliminary charge of possession of a controlled substance as a Class A Misdemeanor. Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office. He is being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
