The John Glenn School Board reviewed an overnight field trip request for the North Liberty Elementary School Robotics Team to Dallas, Texas.
During his report to the school board, North Liberty Elementary School Principal Randy Romer said the Robotics Team, The Gearheads, went to the state competition in Indianapolis in March and did so well the team qualified for Worlds in Dallas, Texas.
Romer said they are working with the parents and want to send as many students as possible. The school is covering the entry fee for the event May 2-4 and several extra curricular organizations are covering meals and a few other expenses for the trip. PTO is fundraising and families are making transportation arrangements in order to get the students to the competition.
Romer said several school employees will be going who are coaches and assistants and three or four students will be making the trip to Texas.
The board unanimously approved the request.
