Culver Man Arrested on Suspicion of Criminal Recklessness

A Culver man was arrested on a warrant Thursday, April 20 following an investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.

Joseph R. Hummel faces a charge of criminal recklessness, defendant shoots a firearm into a building, Level 5 Felony.

Police say on Friday, December 16, 2022, Marshall County deputies responded to a residence in the 12,000 block of Union Road in Culver where the report indicated a person fired a shot through the complainant’s kitchen sliding door and it struck the kitchen table.  It was thought at the time that the shot came from outside the residence of Joseph Hummel near the reporting party, according to the report. 

A case report was completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.  A warrant for Hummel’s arrest was subsequently issued on the charge of criminal recklessness, defendant shoots a firearm into a building, Level 5 Felony.  He is in the Marshall County Jail with a $3,000 cash bond.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
