Bremen Town Council Approves Bid for Jackson Street Project

The Bremen Town Council members approved a bid for the Jackson Street project during their meeting Monday afternoon.

The Town of Bremen was awarded Stellar grant funds for several projects including the Jackson Street project which involves an outdoor pavilion, stage area, a lot of greenspace, new trees, benches, and lighting to create a downtown community gathering area.

Mike Reese from The Troyer Group made the recommendation to the council to approve the bid from Brown and Brown General Contractors. He said they provided the lowest base bid of $1,279,100 and had the lowest any combination of alternate bids.

After discussing the alternate bids and looking at the project budget with Director of Operations Trend Weldy and Grant Administrator Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources, Reese said three alternate bids were chosen.

“We decided that we would award bid alternate #1 for the propane fire pit, alternate #3 for the tongue and groove wood in the pavilion, and alternate #5 which is the deduct for the gutter system,” said Reese.

The entire cost that includes the alternate bids totals $1,303,700.

The council unanimously approved the bids as recommended.

Office of Community and Rural Affairs officials will need to release the funds before the project can start which can take several weeks.
